Drama
A shy unpopular girl living with her alcoholic and neglectful Auntie is forced to unwillingly face the bully that has long tormented her.
Timeca and I had been talking about doing this one forever, thank ya Nikon for providing the inspiration to finally get it done. Pulled out all the stops and called on all sorts of favors to get it done but we made it!

December 28th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Great film….pretty much depicts reality very well
December 28th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
i really like the lighting in this one. And it’s a strong contrast to the majority artsy self-driven shorts in the contest. good work
December 28th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
This film is NOT encouraging violence, but instead is spreading awareness that bullying and having an alcoholic parent does exist!
December 28th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
I know one of the people in this film and she is an awesome person/actress and would NEVER promote violence. Stop being negative people!
December 28th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
good job Ruben
December 28th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Interesting video, well done.
December 28th, 2009 at 9:14 pm

¡excellente trabajo! great production, very realistic story i’m sure many people all over the states can identify, meaningful, realistic. A+
December 29th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Awesome work; the cuts are near perfect.
December 29th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
This was really good, nice work guys.
December 29th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
I find your filming rather apathetic in terms of art. On top, your message is totally wrong. Wonder why this is part of this festival
December 29th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
getting your vid some viewers. you deserve it!
December 30th, 2009 at 12:18 am

December 31st, 2009 at 12:45 pm

December 31st, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Timeca, what a great story. I am super excited for you and as always I am rooting for your success!!!!!
December 31st, 2009 at 1:18 pm
amazing - bullies are the bane of society
December 31st, 2009 at 1:55 pm
Great job. Love the shots and the acting. Ruben, I hope Dean has seen this! He’d be so proud of you:)
December 31st, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Sorry man, I’m not drinkin’ the koolaid. This is completely pointless. I like the shots off the roof, but not the storyline.
December 31st, 2009 at 4:14 pm
watched again and i’m still wondering why this video is on top. i mean really, bullying? encouraged? not to mention, this isn’t “your day.”
January 1st, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Hey Tim,
Saw the short film and all I can say is job wel done. Love Ya
Cynthia
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:15 am
Wow, y’all! This is excellent! Congratulations.
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:19 am
Really compelling storytelling and beautiful film work. I think you’ll win. I hope so.
January 2nd, 2010 at 3:33 am
Great vid!
January 2nd, 2010 at 3:01 pm
Moving film and actually true to life (sad to say).
January 2nd, 2010 at 10:43 pm
Great job! Best of luck!
January 4th, 2010 at 4:44 pm
this is offensive.yes you can tell a story, children should not be encouraged to fight.this is not a day in the life.
January 4th, 2010 at 5:54 pm
to continue, not a piece to represent nikon, hope this is not a popularity contest, you dont deserve to win, sad, only black film @has2b violent.
January 4th, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Isn’t this contest called “Your Day”? Unless the creator of this vid is a young African American girl….it’s ridiculous.
January 4th, 2010 at 7:37 pm
And furthermore, what a cheap BS way to get votes. Sure, it’s a sad story, but, is this “Your Day”? Maybe I’ll make a vid of injured puppies.
January 4th, 2010 at 9:15 pm
I dont mind criticism but felt I had to say that just because a piece deals with an issue it doesnt mean it encourages it. Thats life.
January 4th, 2010 at 9:22 pm
Please be aware that 3.2 MILLION kids grade 6-10 have admitted to bullying daily. And some cases of bullying end in death.
January 4th, 2010 at 9:23 pm
Also, for those concerned please reread Nikon’s “The Brief”……it’s a day through your lens. Thank you
January 4th, 2010 at 10:13 pm
@mrbrutallyhonest, unfortunately this is a day in the life of many, this colorless film encourages facing obstacles-bullies or otherwise.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:51 am
Great story. Rich content. It left me wanting more.
January 5th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
sorry but yes this film does encourage it!
im glad i could give you a reality check.done very well
kids watching it and relative sayin go
January 5th, 2010 at 1:34 pm
yes they do end in death, and if kids watch this they will also.yeah give me more b on b crime.ridiculous
rewatch the storyline,please
January 5th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
PLEASE DO NOT TURN MY PAGE INTO YOUR SOUNDING BOARD. MY FILM IS HERE ON IT’S MERITS. MORE THAN ONE NEGATIVE IS ENOUGH!
January 5th, 2010 at 3:18 pm
PLEASE DO NO RESPOND TO ANY MORE NEGATIVITY, OUT OF 257 COMMENTS WE OLY HAVE 7 NEGATIVES, LET’S KEEP MOVING FOWARD!
January 5th, 2010 at 4:44 pm
Yeah man… Louie Fattz says TWO BLUNTS UP!
January 5th, 2010 at 6:13 pm
I think this a very strong piece. I think that even though it has fighting in it, I dont think it encourages it.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
I think he was trying to show a day in the life of someone who might be going through that kind of lifestyle and I think he did a great job!
January 5th, 2010 at 7:25 pm
It’s truly a testament to how good this is that in a short amount of time it can bring us back to childhood and incite social debate. Kudos!
January 6th, 2010 at 1:49 am
Every cut was its own vignette! Amazing work with so much heart. Thank you for this.
January 6th, 2010 at 2:55 am
In response to mrbrutallyhones: http://bit.ly/7m6AUh
January 6th, 2010 at 3:33 am
Excelnt film! Color, angles, story, all well thot out.
MrBrutallyhonest is brutally clueless.
Life in the ghetto. Real. Painful. Hard.
January 6th, 2010 at 6:28 am
@mrbrutallyhonest, bullying is real - not talking about it doesn’t make it go away. Great job, Ray. well done.
January 6th, 2010 at 6:31 am
@jeff,read the brief, sounds like someone didn’t think of this kind of creativity. Don’t hate - respect the artist and his art. Go Ray!
January 6th, 2010 at 9:33 am
mrbrutallyhonest, lets be brutally honest. Your attempts to discredit a truly wonderful piece of art is pathetic.
January 6th, 2010 at 9:35 am
mrbrutallyhonest, you choose to try and make both race and violence an issue, instead of truly taking time to see the film for what it is.
January 6th, 2010 at 9:36 am
it’s a shame there are such narrow minded and short sighted people still out there that only see negatives in both life and art.
January 6th, 2010 at 9:39 am
Wonderful and inspiring film, I hope it inspires others to find their inner strength to confront whatever obstacle (bully) they face in life
January 6th, 2010 at 1:03 pm
welcome to the biz kid
January 6th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
I love this, I once ran home from a girl who had been trying to fight me,my mom told me I had to make a stand, I did, good life lesson.
January 6th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
Wonderful job!!! Congratulations!!!!
January 6th, 2010 at 10:29 pm
What a GREAT experience for Gianna. I absolutely loved it!!!!! You were very convincing as the bully & the other characters. Great job!
January 6th, 2010 at 10:34 pm
Nope.
January 6th, 2010 at 11:16 pm
@mrbrutallyhonest - Art is the answer. This is a contest of who can best visually portray life through their own Artistic interpretation.
January 7th, 2010 at 3:06 am
good job!!we like your work!is one story from everyday life..what happens sometimes in in everyone’s life;cheers&good luck 4 next projects..
January 7th, 2010 at 7:28 am
great work!
January 7th, 2010 at 10:37 am
Very well done and best of luck to you!
January 7th, 2010 at 11:06 am
This video beautifully depicts a realistic view of what many students encounter as a rite of passage unfortunately.some will not relate.
January 7th, 2010 at 11:09 am
Thank you for making this. It does capture the contest’s theme by showing a day that some may never experience. All the best!!
January 7th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
Nice Film guys…good luck! I appreciate the illustration of how kids get it at home and at school. We need views into the roots of rage.
January 8th, 2010 at 4:56 am
dont sweat the haters ray. they only seem to be bagging your video to draw neg pub to it. this is a very inspirational video.
January 8th, 2010 at 3:16 pm
liked the girl’s name being drama more so than the vid. uninspirational at best, although the production was good.
January 9th, 2010 at 4:40 am
it was a good film, not good for this film contest.of this little girl seemed more like a falsified story than a day in the life. 1 star
January 9th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
to timecamarie, a day through your lens? so they’re filming kids fighting everyday? WONDERFUL!
January 11th, 2010 at 12:13 pm
perfectly captured, very real and meaningful
January 11th, 2010 at 4:08 pm
a DAY through your lens … not an EVERYDAY to your lens (to drumhatcorps)… NICE WORK GUYS dont listen to haters
January 11th, 2010 at 5:44 pm
just showed, didn’t transcend
January 11th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
no child could film this, its not your day
January 11th, 2010 at 8:15 pm
lol, so for those saying its not real or its not her day I would hope that our being selected should show that we met the requirements
January 11th, 2010 at 8:23 pm
AND we asked Nikon before we shot one frame & were told: “..if it’s through your lens, so go and be creative. Good luck!”
January 11th, 2010 at 8:28 pm
Cant help but be defensive when we asked before and so many great people put so much into making this happen with no time and no budget
January 11th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
I really am sorry that some of you feel that way, we were pretty proud of what we accomplished, that said you’re welcome to your opinions
January 12th, 2010 at 2:12 pm
Good story. I think some people are taking this film at face value, try looking deeper. Everyone has had some kind of turmoil inside & out.
January 12th, 2010 at 4:05 pm
Liked it:)
January 12th, 2010 at 8:14 pm
Great story !!
January 13th, 2010 at 3:30 pm
Disturbing message with the potential to reach so many of our children who already struggle with a lack of conflict-resolution skills.
January 13th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
I feel like this was inspired by the Book Black Boy? Did it have an impact on your film or is it just a fluke?
January 14th, 2010 at 12:14 pm
This film puts the truth out there and offers the viewer the option of asking “What would I do?”. Watch w/kids and use as a teaching tool.
January 24th, 2010 at 7:47 am
very nice
